Standard!
Does it ring a bell? I am sure it does!
Standard is the most common term, which we hear in our day-to-day life. Most of the time, its presence is so pervasive that we usually take it for granted. For example, a “standard document” or the “standard time”, but that’s about it.
In today’s world, standardization plays a vital role, and it is one of the defining aspects of modern life. Standards are an integral part of our life, which rules us and guides us as a teacher! Without standardization, the world would be more complicated to understand or probably, we would not know where to start. So, I would like to call it as “a set of rules that helps us achieve the end result”.
Now, coming to the point, are standards really required for an organization or could we do away with that? I have always believed in the fact that without standardization, we cannot live in this world. About a week back, I had an argument with two of my friends regarding this topic, and we are still trying to derive an answer.
According to them, standardization is a cumbersome process, which not only takes time to implement, but also a waste of time. They feel that most of the time, we try to adhere to the process, and forget the main goal. Our argument is still continuing, and probably you could help. What do you think of this?
Does an organization really need standardization or not?
